Otis Instruments Wired Products
Gas detection is crucial across industrial units to prevent leakages, explosions, and ensure safety of personnel and property. Wire gas detection equipment is installed in specific areas of the unit or integrated with industrial systems. These can be categorized into two types- sensor assemblies and controllers and monitors, wherein one senses and monitors the presence of gases and the other as a user interface that displays information, issues alerts, and more.
At The Transmitter Shop, we offer gas detection equipment with advanced sensors. These include Otis wire products such as sensor assemblies, master controllers, and Modbus monitors among others to detect toxic gases either continuously or intermittently.
Types of Wire Gas Detection Equipment
Here are some types of Otis wire gas detection systems we offer.
- Sensor assemblies: We offer a variety of sensor assemblies with different configurations. Here are some of their features.
-
- Most of our sensor assemblies come with an electrochemical, infrared or PID sensor element to detect various gases.
- They have magnetic switches that enable non-intrusive calibration on field.
- For most models, the power voltages ranges between 12 to 35 VDC and wired analog output from 4 to 20 mA.
- The ones with infrared sensor element can detect combustible gases in ambient air.
- We also offer Class I, Division 1, Groups C & D assemblies that are specially designed for hazardous locations. They are ANSI/ISA 12.13.01-2013 certified.
- These sensor assemblies come with 102x64 Resolution Graphical LCD Screen with white LED backlight which enables clear reading in sunlight.
- These assemblies have a wide operating temperature range between -40°C and +54°C.
- Our quad sensor assembly uses four electrochemical, infrared, PID, or a variety of each. It comes with top mounted strobe light and bottom mounted miniature buzzer to issue alert when any control board is detecting gas above alarm levels. The strobe light can be Red, Amber, Blue, or LED Tri-Light. Likewise, our dual sensor assembly uses any two of the sensor elements.
- We also offer a toxic gas detector that uses electrochemical sensing element. It is designed for harsh climates and operating environments.
- We offer a remote sensor kit comprising four remoted sensor housings with 50 feet of cable per housing and battery clips.
- Monitors These monitors are used in conjunction with the sensor assembly. Here are some of their features.
-
- Our a 32-channel gas controller can communicate with up to 32 01-6000 wired gas sensors through R485-Modbus communication. Here, you can set up four relays can for a full-scale gas reading in a latching or non-latching state.
- These monitors come with a 160x104 Resolution Graphical LCD Screen and are sunlight readable owing to white LED backlight.
- They operate on both AC and DC voltages, wherein the DC voltage ranges between 12V to 35V DC, while the AC voltage is 120V.
- Their operating temperature range is between -40°C and +70°C.
- We offer NEMA 4X standard fiberglass enclosure with clear window enclosure.
- Controllers: Here are some features of Otis controllers.
-
- Otis master controller is an information system providing complete control and management of assets in the field; both remotely and on-site.
- It incorporates wired and/or wireless sensors and is capable of using multiple types of equipment. Hence, compatibility is never an issue.
- This Master Controller offers secure cloud storage and VPN access via phone, laptop and desktop.
- It can be configured for both wired and wireless instruments.
- This master controller has expandable digital input/output modules as well as analog modules supporting 4-20 mA, 0-5V, and 0-10V.
- Along with AC and DC, it can work on solar power.
- We can customize this controller to suit specific requirements.
Factors to Consider When Choosing Wire Gas Detection Systems
While we are here to assist you when choosing wired gas detection equipment based on your application requirements, here are some pointers which may be helpful.
- Application requirements: First, it is important to be sure about your application requirements in terms of the operating environment, mounting type based on the space available, types of gases, and more. Once you know the details, it is easy to weigh them against the features of specific Otis models.
- Type of gas: Check if your operating environment has toxic gases, in which case we have a specially designed toxic gas detector by Otis. The other types of gas level to be monitored may simply include oxygen and other combustible gases. The level of combustible gases needs to be monitored to prevent fire and explosion.
- Operating temperatures: The models are designed for a wide operating temperature range. However, it is necessary to weigh them against the temperature range in your environment.
- Accuracy levels: While Otis sensor assemblies are designed to issue alarms in case they detect the presence of designated gases beyond a limit. However, if you require precise readings check that model’s sensitivity and if it can achieve tight tolerances.
- Compatibility: Ensure their compatibility with the existing systems in the industrial unit, such as SCADA. Most Otis wire gas detection equipment support Modbus protocol.
